The Canadian Tourism Data Collective Utilization Survey |
1. Introduction
We are inviting you to participate in a survey regarding the utility of Destination Canada’s Canadian Tourism Data Collective (CTDC), which was launched in May of 2024. You are under no obligation to participate and are free to withdraw at any time by simply exiting the survey webpage.
The purpose of this survey is to assess your awareness of, and if applicable current utility of this tool. Additionally, some basic organizational information will be collected in order to better understand the needs of different stakeholders.
We are asking for your feedback to advance timely tourism related data to be accessible to industry stakeholders. Your insights are important to ensure your voice is heard and that the utility of this tool and further projects can be best optimized for your needs. This project is part of doctoral studies by Scott Peters at Simon Fraser University exploring how to advance tourism resilience through data-driven decision-making practices. It is undertaken independent of Destination Canada.
If you have not heard about or engaged with the CTDC, or you would like to refresh yourself with the platform, please take a few minutes to look around the website HERE before taking the survey. This link does not require an account and gives you access to the current resources at no cost.
This survey should take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Your answers will be kept anonymous and secured on Simon Fraser University servers and only the primary investigators will have access to the raw data. Aggregated data from this study may be shared in the form of reports, presentations, and/or academic papers with TOTA and/or other tourism/academic organizations. Raw data will be stored for 1 year after the study’s completion, after which this data will be cleared. Please feel free to contact Scott Peters about participation and study details.
Upon completing the survey, you have the option to enter an email address for a chance to win a $200 Amazon Gift Card. The draw for winning the gift card will take place March 28th, 2025, and the winner will be contacted via the email address provided. The winner will have 5 business days to accept the gift card. If not claimed in this time, a redraw will occur. Email addresses submitted for the draw will not be linked to answers provided for this survey and will not be used for further contact or studies. Email addresses will be deleted after a winner has been declared and the prize accepted.
