* 16. What types of work are you interested in? Note: we cannot guarantee placement in the areas you prefer. You can change your preferences after you interview and/or find out more information. Returning tutors are given preference for appointment tutoring, drop-in shifts, and workshops.

Email-based tutoring. Please read: Volume increases throughout each term, peaking in the last week of November and March. After the first week of December and April, there is very little to no work. The number of jobs you complete (email replies to students) depends on the number of submissions we get, your availability on a given day, and your areas of expertise (e.g., science writing). We are looking for someone who can work at least 1 hour a week, with at least 3 hours a week in November, March, and the first week of April. The number of online jobs cannot be guaranteed as it depends on demand. If you are too busy to take a submission on a given day, you can often pass it along to another tutor.

Appointment-based tutoring. These are three-hour shifts, according to your availability. Students may want to meet in person or on Zoom, so your shift would often be in the Murray Library writing centre office.

Workshop prep and delivery. Topics (and some content) are pre-determined, but there is room to make these your own. Workshops are usually 1 to 2 hours and may be delivered via Zoom or in-person in the Murray Library.

In-person Drop-in Tutoring. This begins on the second week of September. We are closed when classes are not on, such as during the November and February breaks, as well as most of December and April.

Write Nights or other events. We sometimes hold events such as anti-procrastination work sessions with tutors on hand to help students through the writing process as needed.

Aboriginal Students' Centre Tutor (Indigenous student preferred). Tutoring in person and occasionally via Zoom at the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Centre on campus: two three-hour shifts a week during classes. Sometimes attending an event where tutors will be on hand. Maintaining a file of handouts, guides, and resources as needed, depending on what they notice students need. Attending some welcome events for various programs such as ISAP. Possible workshops and short presentations. Note: all of the aforementioned activities are, of course, paid.
