The Robert R. Moffat Memorial Scholarship is offered in memory of Robert R. Moffat, a prominent architect who designed the Memorial Union Building and the Arts Building on the University of Saskatchewan Campus.

The award will be based primarily on outstanding academic performance and secondarily on evidence of financial need. The career goals of the individual will be taken into consideration.

Financial need is defined as holding less than $15,000 in financial assistance from any source (scholarship, employment, stipend, government support, family support, etc.) during the time of the tenure of the award.

The scholarship will be awarded to a Canadian (or permanent resident) student who has been admitted to or who is in his/her first year of a graduate program of study on a full-time basis in the fields of Agriculture, Engineering, or the Natural Sciences. This time in program requirement applies for when the award is taken up, not at the time of application.

Please include the following:
  • A letter outlining your degree program (including outline of proposed research, if applicable) and future career goals.
  • Photocopies of official transcripts from all secondary institutions attended; unofficial transcripts from the University of Saskatchewan will be accepted.
You will be required to provide information on your revenues and expenses for the upcoming academic period, as well as information on up to 10 refereed publications and/or 10 presentations.

We also require a confidential letter from your supervisor, which speaks to your suitability for the award, and which takes into consideration your academic performance and financial need. This letter can be sent to gradstudies.awards@usask.ca.
