What is this study about?
We would like to know how COVID-19 lockdown measures implemented by the Government of Ontario impacted experience of intimate partner violence, perceived health outcomes and access to services.
- Did the experience of violence get worse, stay the same, or get better?
- How did the experience of violence affect your health and well-being (mental and physical)?
- What would have made it easier to reach both formal (shelters, helplines, healthcare, counselling) and informal (family, friends, neighbours) during this time?
- What were the lessons learned for future crises in terms of access or reaching isolated populations from perspectives of both the providers and survivors of IPV?
Who?
- individuals 18 years or older,
- experienced violence from an intimate partner during COVID-19 lockdowns (March 2020-June 2021),
- living in Ontario.
What will your participation involve?
- A 20 minute anonymous online survey with a total of 58 questions.
- Topics include employment, education, experience of intimate partner violence before and during COVID-19 lockdowns, how COVID-19 affected your access to social supports (friends, family, services, shelters, healthcare), how you were feeling mentally and physically and what you think would have made it helpful to access necessary services.
- Responses are anonymous and will not be tied to anyone who answers the survey. Privacy and anonymity will be protected.
- Findings will be shared at an aggregate and summary level with key stakeholders.
