Please note, as outlined in the CGPS policy on Centrally Administered Funding, that a student may not hold two major internal institutional scholarships at the same time, or a major institutional scholarship and a major external scholarship. A major scholarship is defined as equal to or more than $17,500 per annum. Top-up awards and honorary scholarships at a reduced value may be combined with major scholarships. It is your responsibility to inform the College of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies of any such funding that you are receiving.

Eligibility requirements
Applicants must:
- be First Nations, Métis or Inuit;
- have graduated from a Saskatchewan university;
- be a Canadian citizen;
- reside in Saskatchewan for the duration of their graduate or post-graduate studies. Any research involving out-of-province fieldwork is only permitted by maintaining a principal residence in Saskatchewan;
- have an undergraduate degree in any discipline (at the time of commencement of the scholarship);
- have applied for admission or be enrolled in graduate or post-graduate studies for the upcoming year in any field of study at either the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina; and
- have applied for a thesis or non-thesis (project-based) program. Note – course-based programs are not eligible.
Preference will be given to students in fields of study that support the Saskatchewan Growth Plan and address complex challenges that impact the citizens of Saskatchewan.
Preference will also be given to applicants who are in the early stage of their degree or have not received other substantial awards.

A complete application package will consist of:
- The completed application form;
- A one-page outline of your thesis or project topic or area of major research you intend to pursue for your graduate studies;
- Official transcripts from all universities attended, including transcripts where you received transfer credit;
- Two confidential letters of reference (ensure your reference completes the Letter of Reference form found online). The letters can be sent to gradstudies.awards@usask.ca.
The deadline for application submission is February 28 at 4:30pm CST annually.
