Consent Statement

CNIB is undertaking a project to understand the accessibility issues people who are blind or partially sighted experience when administering insulin. In addition to hearing from people living with diabetes and sight loss, we also welcome medical professionals, manufacturers, caregivers and others who are familiar with these issues to provide their feedback. Our goal is to use this information to advocate for improvements to the accessibility of insulin pumps, with the hope this will evolve into a discussion around the accessibility of healthcare devices more generally.

This research will provide up-to-date information on how accessible the experience of administering insulin is for people with sight loss. To our knowledge there is no recent data on this topic.

To achieve our goal of better understanding of the accessibility of insulin pumps we are asking that you complete our Accessibility of Insulin Devices Survey. All data collected will be kept anonymous and confidential. Results will be reported in aggregate, without any identifying features associated with any individual. Data will not be shared except in aggregate, summary form with outside parties.

This survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Please note that participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and confidential. You can end the survey at any time, and you can choose not to answer certain questions. And, of course, there are no consequences to you if you choose not to participate.

For more information about this advocacy project, or to ask questions about the research, please contact Kat.Clarke@cnib.ca

By answering "YES" to the consent question below, you understand and acknowledge the purpose of the survey, as well as how the data will be analyzed and used by the CNIB.
